AVI GALLERY is delighted to extend an invitation to students from Simcoe County Schools to participate in our Art Contest, reflecting our commitment to values like creativity, inclusivity, and expression. Embracing AVI GALLERY's philosophy, we encourage students to see art as a catalyst for dialogue, emphasizing its accessibility and inclusivity. The contest aims to build relationships within the community while providing an opportunity for students to express their thoughts and emotions through various artistic forms. With a clear set of rules and judging criteria, we seek to recognize and celebrate the diverse talents of young artists, creating an environment where art is enjoyable and accessible to everyone. Our goal is to foster creativity and community engagement through the AVI GALLERY Art Contest. The following plan outlines the values of participation, rules, and guidelines for a creative and inclusive experience:

Values of Participation

1. Creativity: Encourage students to unleash their creativity, express their unique perspectives, and explore various artistic mediums.

2. Inclusivity: Promote an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of skill level, are encouraged to participate and celebrate the diversity of artistic expressions.

3. Expression: Provide a platform for students to express their thoughts, emotions, and ideas through visual arts, fostering self-discovery and personal growth.

4. Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among students, teachers, and parents by showcasing and celebrating the artistic achievements of participants.

2024 Contest Theme

"Magical Adventures: Enchanting Worlds and Whimsical Creatures." This theme encourages young artists to unleash their imaginations and create enchanting artworks inspired by magical realms, fairy tales, and mythical creatures. It provides an opportunity for them to explore vibrant colors, fantastical landscapes, and imaginative characters, fostering creativity and a sense of wonder. This theme is fitting for the age group, allowing them to express their creativity in a lighthearted and joyful manner.

 Rules and Guidelines:

1. Eligibility:

- The contest is open to students from Simcoe County Elementary Schools.  Two prizes will be given based on two Grade categories of 1 to 4 and 5 to 8.

- Students must adhere to the designated theme, encouraging them to think creatively within a specific context.

2. Submission Guidelines:

- AVI GALLERY Permission to Participate Form must be completed and signed by all participating students’ parents or guardians.

- Artwork submissions can include drawings, paintings, or mixed media and must be original creations of the participants.

- Size: Maximum 10” x 12”

- Format specifications: Paper

- Submissions must be accompanied by a brief description, providing insight into the inspiration and creative process.  All submissions must be mailed to our main office at 1131A Leslie Street, Suite 101, North York, Ontario, M3C 3L8.

3. Deadline:

*** Deadline for the contest is May 24th.  Judging will take place from May 27th to May 31st.  Two first place winners, one from each Grade category, will be announced on Monday June 1st.

4. Judging Criteria:

- Artwork will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, composition, technical skill, adherence to the theme, and overall artistic expression.

- Panel of Judges: AVI GALLERY Gallerist, Avida Mohseni; Gaia Orion, Artist; Hani Roustom, CEO of Friday Harbour Resort.

5. Awards and Recognition:

*** Two first place awards will be given, one in each Grade category which will include a $250 prize (cheque) for each category, a recognition certificate will be provided to each winner.  In addition, the winners’ artwork will be displayed at AVI GALLERY for 3 months.

6. Communication:

- AVI GALLERY will Regularly communicate contest details, updates, and deadlines to schools through a dedicated contact person or teacher liaison to communicate all contest information and updates to Students and Parents.

- AVI GALLERY will utilize various communication channels, including emails, school bulletins, and social media, to reach a wider audience.

 

By implementing this comprehensive plan, we aim to create a positive and enriching experience for students, promoting the values of creativity, inclusivity, expression, and community engagement through artistic endeavors.
